What reviewers notice first

Weekend GitHub checklist

Remote hiring has no office chat, so your GitHub does the talking. Nobody reads all your code. They skim. Fix these six things this weekend.

1. Pin 3–6 real projectsNot forks. Not tutorial clones. Projects you built and can explain.
2. Write a README for eachWhat it does, a screenshot or live link, how to run it, and the stack.
3. Deploy one live demoFree hosting tiers exist. A link beats “clone and run”.
4. Keep commits small and clearSmall commits over weeks beat one giant “final commit”. It shows how you work.
5. Add a few testsEven a handful. Many junior repos have none, so this alone makes you stand out.
6. Write a 3-line profile READMEWhat you build, your stack, and how to reach you.
